Opportunities

The Wessex Branch is pleased to be able to offer a diverse range of activities associated with dressing flies and deploying them to catch fish.  Not all of the ideas are finalised and we always welcome new ideas as the variety adds to the richness of the Programme.  Currently being considered, but not yet finalised are elements such as:

  • Multiple tying tables, offering everyone from novice through to the time-served and knowledgeable can find a fly of interest.

  • A range of flies from Classic Salmon through tube flies and right down to the micro midge are all demonstrated at different times in the year.  We try not to forget the Pike, Bass, Perch, Bass etc patterns and include these in the mix through the year.

  • Fishing, the very essence of what we are preparing to do with the flies that we tie.  Periodic excursions to the water are being built into the programme.

  • Rod Building Option, details are being finalised, experts being found to support Members build their own rod.

  • Speakers/Demonstrations on the second Tuesday of each month.  As a rule we have a celebrity speaker present some of their fly dressing, angling or other aspect that impacts tying experience to shorten each of our own personal journey developing the understanding of fly dressing and fishing.

And, of course we continue to look for new activity and points of interest so ideas are always welcome...
